You’ve written your speech. You’ve got great ideas. But are you ready to deliver it with confidence?

Here’s a secret every great speaker knows: practice isn’t just helpful—it’s everything. Rehearsing your speech helps you feel more prepared, speak more clearly, and connect better with your audience. Even the most famous speakers rehearse (a lot!) before they take the stage.

So how do you practice the right way? Let’s break it down:

1. Practice Out Loud

Reading your speech silently isn’t enough. Speak it out loud!

Why? Because your mouth and your brain work together when you’re presenting. Practicing aloud helps you find tricky words, improve your pacing, and build muscle memory.

2. Use a Mirror (or a Camera!)

Practicing in front of a mirror helps you notice your facial expressions and gestures. Want to level up? Record yourself on video and play it back—you might be surprised at how much you can improve!

3. Time Yourself

Do you talk too fast when you’re nervous? Or go over your time?

Set a timer during practice to make sure your speech fits into the time limit while still giving you room to breathe.

4. Ask for Feedback

Practice in front of a friend, parent, or teacher and ask:

“Did I speak clearly?”

“Did you understand my message?”

“What was your favorite part?”

Even small tips can make a big difference!

5. Repeat (Even When It’s Boring!)

The more you rehearse, the more natural your speech will feel. Don’t worry if it’s not perfect the first time. Repetition builds confidence—and confidence makes you shine!

Remember: Practice doesn’t make perfect. Practice makes progress.

And every time you practice, you get one step closer to being a powerful, fearless speaker.
